Earlier this month, the National Association of Minority Auto Dealers (NAMAD) honored Rene’ Isip with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
When Rene’ began his career in the automotive industry in 1984, he believed his hard work and attention to customer service would lead him to accomplishing a life-long dream of opening his own dealership. Today he owns two dealerships—one in Dallas, one in Houston–and is the Chief Operating Officer of the John Eagle Dealerships.
After 20 years in the business, in April 2004, Rene’ opened his first dealership, Rene’ Isip’s Toyota of Lewisville to better serve the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Toyota of Lewisville is one of the highest volume Toyota dealerships in Texas and followed upon his noteworthy and legendary success at Lute Riley Honda where he sold more than 700 cars in a month on several occasions as the General Manager of the dealership.
Rene’ Isip’s Toyota of Lewisville is known for being a high volume dealership, but Rene’ has found new inroads in the community and through technology to continue leading the industry in many varied facets. For one, Rene’s passion for sales events has helped Toyota of Lewisville earn national recognition for their hugely successful Toyotathon year-end sales event. In 2009, Toyota of Lewisville gave away $3,100 giveaway to celebrate the 31st annual Toyotathon—a highly publicized event on the dealerships web pages and Facebook pages. The store also owns one of the top Twitter accounts in the nation with more than 3,300 followers.
As for next steps? The forward thinking Isip notes, “We plan on doing something even more exciting this year for Toyotathon. It’s going to be HUGE. Stay tuned.”
With his foresight to give back to the community there’s little doubt that his customers will benefit from the next promotion that the merchandising guru takes to market. More than anything Isip believes in supporting and giving back to the community where his employees and customers live and work. In the midst of the economic downturn, Isip and the City of Lewisville negotiated a 10-year, $1.5 million partnership to maintain the city’s Toyota of Lewisville Railroad Park. The park is a 269 acre facility with four baseball fields, four football fields and eight soccer fields in the heart of Lewisville, just outside Dallas.
The park also offers the community a scenic walking path and three man-made lakes to control flooding in the area. One of the main attractions is the Toyota of Lewisville Dog Park – allowing people to let their dogs off their leashes to enjoy the freedom to roam and play with other dogs.
Within the same facility, the Scion of Lewisville Skate Park is the second largest skate park in Texas. The 33,000 sq. ft. skate park is home to skate boarders and BMX bikers and offers a fun, safe environment for skaters all over the Dallas Ft. Worth area.
“I believe in the importance of participating and giving back to the community,” said Isip. “Toyota of Lewisville Railroad Park just made to much sense to keep us connected with our community.”
Rene’ Isip opened his second dealership, Honda Cars of Katy, in November 2007. Honda Cars of Katy, located in Katy, Texas, is one of the highest volume Honda dealerships in Texas.
At Honda Cars of Katy both employees and customers are treated like family. Isip equipped his teams at Honda Cars of Katy and Toyota of Lewisville with the best facility and technology available. The dealerships have a progressive atmosphere that offer customers nothing but the most professional and comfortable service areas. Both dealerships have free Wi-fi, HD television waiting areas, business waiting areas for laptop accessibility as well as a full grill where customers can order food or even have a free cup of coffee.
“People make the difference,” said Isip. “With as many dealerships as there are in Houston and Dallas, we had to have something that sets us apart from the rest. Our employees believe in taking care of the customer first.”
Now, Rene’ Isip is also the proud recipient of NAMAD’s Lifetime Achivement Award. He will, no doubt, be a leader in the automotive industry for years to come. With a strong emphasis on customer service and satisfaction, his dealerships continue to thrive and grow. We look forward to seeing even more achievements to come and what he has in store for Toyotathon 2011.

Do you sweat at the gas pump even when it’s not hot outside? Combine the current state of our economy and Dallas gas prices risingand, if you’re like most people, you are probably feeling the pinch in your pocket every time you fill up. In an effort to save money, some people are asking whether they can get away with using a regular grade gas in their engine. The short answer is: it depends. While cutting corners on gas may be tempting, the best answer to this question is found in the user manual for your car, but here is a breakdown for each fuel grade to help de-mystify their value.
“Regular” unleaded is gas that has an octane rating of 85-87. A fuel’s octane rating is not related to its quality; all fuels in the United States contain an ingredient to prevent deposit build-up in the engine. Put simply, the lower the octane rating, the more quickly the gas is burned in the engine. Regular grade is obviously the least expensive option, but who can get away with using this grade of fuel? Well, the answer is most people. For most engines, unless otherwise indicated in your owner’s manual, filling up with regular is likely to be just as effective as using premium. Using a higher octane gas in an engine that isn’t “high performance” may actually cause damage to the emissions system.
Midgrade Unleaded
Midgrade fuel has an octane rating of 88-90. If your owner’s manual suggests for you to use midgrade, then this is obviously the right choice. Another example of when it might be best to opt for midgrade gas is in the case of an older vehicle that makes a knocking, or “pinging” sound while being driven on regular octane gas. This pinging sound occurs when the air to fuel mixture causes an abnormal combustion in your car’s engine. Using a lower than needed grade of gasoline in a high-powered engine can lead to this problem. Pinging is not only obnoxious, but over time it may damage an engine. If you experience pinging, try experimenting with a higher octane fuel to see if the problem is eliminated.
Premium Unleaded
Premium contains an octane rating of 91 or higher. Although it’s the most costly option, when it comes to premium vs. regular fuel, if you have a high-performance engine, this one is a no contest. High performance cars are designed to run on higher octane gasoline. Not following manufacturer’s advice in this area can and often will negatively affect your car’s performance and, when done over a long period of time, can damage the engine.
When in doubt, consult your owner’s manual. And if you are like most people, and cost of gas has become a concern for you, consider a more fuel efficient vehicle at your next purchase. The Toyota Prius, for example, is the leader in this category, boasting 48 miles to the gallon in city driving. Come in to speak with our helpful sales department or visit http://www.toyotaoflewisville.com for specs and pricing information on our full line of fuel efficient Toyota’s.
