Since its release into the hands of truck enthusiasts back in 2000, the Toyota Tundra has won the hearts and minds of people everywhere, especially in North Texas.

We ran across one Tundra enthusiast that relies heavily on his truck to bring home the bacon! Have any of you ever tried fly fishing or been on a guided fly fishing trip? Well, we found a person who guides over 300 days a year on various rivers all over the country.

Each and every day, Keith Kaneko of Angling on the Fly guide service, packs up his Tundra with gear and hauls his boat down the dusty and rugged roads to launch his boat. Thankfully, the Tundra has a solid frame, big, aggressive tires, a fail-proof four-wheel drive system and best of all, is very comfortable. This river rock star stops at nothing and each dollar he makes depends on making it safely to the river.

Keith has put his Tundra though the river and over the hills, literally! Lastly, after a 15-hour day, I usually have to drive two more hours to get home to my family and I love how my Tundra rides.”

Roger Writes: I have a 2005 Tacoma with an automatic transmission. I plan to tow a small trailer on vacation later this month. Would it be worth adding a transmission cooler? I have heard that it is a good idea, but wanted to ask you.

Mike: Roger, If you plan to do any towing and your vehicle doesn’t already have a transmission cooler, it is a good idea to have one installed. A transmission cooler is a low cost way to lower fluid temperatures and extend the life of your transmission. Severe heat degrades the fluid’s ability to lubricate and greatly shortens its useful life. Anything you can do to drop fluid temperatures will save you a ton of money and headaches in the future. Also, remember to have your fluid flushed out every 25-30k miles.

Help your car beat the heat: If your car sits out in the hot sun every day, there are a few things you can do to keep the interior from being damaged. First, get one of those sun shades and place it behind your windshield every time you park it. This will lower your interior temperatures at least 25 degrees along with keeping your dash and steering wheel from cracking. Second, place a white bath towel across your back seats and that shelf behind the rear window. This will help prevent the sun from damaging your upholstery and deteriorating the seat stitching. It also helps to roll your windows about a quarter of an inch to release some of that hot air. Anything you do will help.
